The Nashua Junior Franchise Cricket Tournament began with a bang at the High Performance Oval, showing impressive skills of U14 players in Namibia. With the U19 category set to start at Untied Cricket Ground on May 10th, the tournament promises to be a thrilling playground for the young cricket talent.
The U14 matches displayed exceptional skills, with Cricket Namibia providing a unique broadcasting experience, including live coverage with full commentary, to give youth cricketers a platform to shine.
The opening game on Friday, April 26th, between the KFC Wildcats and the Stadio Jets, set the tone for the tournament, with the Jets clinching victory by 8 wickets. The Jets’ strong performance continued throughout the weekend, securing victories in all their matches and finishing at the top of the table with 12 points.
Saturday’s matches featured standout performances, including the KFC Wildcats posting the highest total of the tournament so far, scoring 193/3 in 20 overs against the Asburton Eagles. Gillmer Horn’s 77 runs and Janco Duvenhage’s 53 runs propelled the Wildcats to a dominant victory by 128 runs.
The weekend concluded with another victory for the Stadio Jets, this time against the KFC Wildcats, showing their solid batting performance and securing their position at the top of the table.
Individual performances were also celebrated, with players like Alex Parker, JW Junias, Markus van Heerdn, and Max Fourie standing out for their contributions to their respective teams.
