Flame “The Special One” Nangolo was crowned the new World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Africa super featherweight champion on Saturday night after defeating Ghanaian boxer Felix Ajom via a third-round knockout.

The fight took place at the Roman Catholic Hospital hall, where Nangolo extended his professional record to 13 unbeaten fights. This record of victories includes five knockouts.

The 23-year-old’s victory came against Ajom, who also entered the ring with an undefeated record of 20 fights—17 of them won by knockout. Ajom had never been knocked out before.

The boxing event also marked the return of veteran fighter Walter Kautondokwa, who knocked out Zimbabwe’s Liberty Muwani in the first round. Kautondokwa, a former WBO middleweight world title contender, last fought in October 2019.

He now has 19 professional fights, 18 of which he won by knockout.

His only loss came against Demetrius Andrade of the United States in October 2018 in Las Vegas.

Harry Simon Junior was also in action, stopping Zimbabwe’s Tranos Zihove in the second round.

The 27-year-old now has 22 professional fights, with no losses and one draw.

Charles Shinima added to the excitement by knocking out Malawian boxer Dickson Saidi in the third round.

Shinima now has 18 wins and two losses from 20 professional fights.
