NamWater has issued a warning to the public, financial institutions, and stakeholders about fraudulent activities involving fake NamWater payslips used to obtain loans under false pretenses.

On Wednesday, NamWater’s spokesperson Lot Ndamanomhata, urged businesses, particularly those in the short-term loan sector, to exercise caution and verify all employment claims before processing transactions.

He also confirmed that a recent incident exposed the use of a counterfeit payslip to fraudulently secure a loan.

“We can confirm that the attached sample document, which has been circulating, does not belong to NamWater and lacks the unique security features of genuine NamWater payslips,” he said.

The utility called on all stakeholders to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to the misuse of its branding.

“If you are uncertain about the authenticity of a NamWater payslip or employment status, please contact NamWater’s Employee Services for verification before proceeding with any financial transactions,” he advised.

Ndamanomhata reiterated NamWater’s commitment to safeguarding its reputation and ensuring the integrity of its operations.

He added that the public is encouraged to report any fraudulent activities to prevent further financial losses and deception to the corporation’s headquarters.
