NamWater, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Arts, and Culture, donated textbooks valued at N$240 700 to 12 schools in the Ohangwena region.
Abraham Nehemia, the chief executive officer at NamWater, announced the donation on Wednesday.
The recipient schools are Oshamono Combined School, Onanona Combined School, Ndjabeka Primary School, Elakalapwa Combined School, Onamunhama Combined School, Kaupumhote Nghituwamhata Combined School, Lazarus Haufiku Combined School, Oshawapala Combined School, Okahenge Combined School, Ounyenye Combined School, Haihambo Primary School, and Amwiimbi Combined School.
According to Nehemia, this contribution is part of NamWater’s broader effort to ensure that learners have the tools they need to succeed academically.
“We firmly believe in the transformative power of education and the pivotal role it plays in shaping the future of our society. With this belief at our core, we are excited to announce our role in advancing educational opportunities within our community,” he said.
Nehemia said NamWater will assist with infrastructure and ICT development in schools and provide psychosocial support, including learners’ counselling services and uniforms, to Ohangewna and some other regions.
“We believe that by working hand in hand with the Ministry of Education and other stakeholders, we can significantly contribute to the advancement of our region and the realisation of our collective aspirations for a better future,” he emphasised.
Sebastian Ndeitunga, the Ohangwena regional governor, described the donation as a moment that signifies hope, opportunity, and a brighter future for learners.
“This event is not just a handover ceremony; it is a moment that signifies hope, opportunity, and a brighter future for our young learners,” he said.
Ndeitunga said the textbooks would help bridge the gap in educational resources, particularly in rural schools where the need is often the greatest.
