NamRA launches six-month customs education campaign for online importers

Staff Writer

The Namibia Revenue Agency (NamRA) has launched a six-month customs education campaign aimed at educating members of the public who operate “Order With Me” businesses or purchase and import goods through online platforms.

The campaign, titled “Every Order Counts – Let’s Process It!”, is intended to help traders, small and medium-sized enterprises, student entrepreneurs, online shoppers and first-time importers understand customs and importation requirements.

NamRA said the campaign will provide practical information to help the public comply with customs procedures and avoid common mistakes that could result in unexpected costs, delays or the possible confiscation of goods.

As part of the campaign, NamRA has invited members of the public to join its Welcome to the NamRA Order With Me Community on WhatsApp.

The community will provide official customs and importation updates, educational videos, infographics and practical guides, as well as live question-and-answer sessions with Customs and Excise officials.

It will also offer guidance on customs and importation procedures, tips on avoiding delays and additional costs, and responses to questions related to importing goods.

NamRA said the WhatsApp community is open to the public and is intended to serve as a platform where importers and other users can access reliable information directly from the revenue agency.

Members of the community are expected to keep discussions relevant to customs and importation, while maintaining respectful and professional conduct. NamRA said advertising, spam and unrelated messages will not be permitted.

The agency also cautioned members against sharing false or misleading information and urged participants not to post personal or confidential information in the group.

NamRA further encouraged the public to follow its official communication platforms for reliable information, educational content, campaign activities and updates throughout the six-month campaign.

The agency said the initiative forms part of its efforts to educate and assist clients to understand customs requirements, make informed decisions and import goods in compliance with the law.
