NamPower received 1 014 bursary applications

NamPower has awarded bursaries to 14 students from a competitive pool of 1 014 applicants.

The bursaries will enable recipients to pursue studies in fields including data science, electrical engineering, logistics, mechanical engineering, and transport management.

Two of the recipients, who live with disabilities, were granted bursaries to study accounting and law.

Bursary recipient Maria Nashapi spoke on behalf of the bursary recipients.

“It is with deep gratitude and humility that we recipients of this prestigious bursary stand before you today. This occasion is not merely about signing a contract. It is a celebration of opportunity, potential, and the power of collective support. Today we acknowledge the significant investment NamPower has made towards the future of the Namibian child,” she said.

NamPower’s managing director, Kahenge Haulofu, explained the significance of being selected.

“The bursary office received 1 014 applications and only 14 of you have successfully been awarded this bursary. We have done our part and all we expect of you, dear recipients, is to do your best and excel,” he said.

Former bursary recipient, Titus Haihambo shared his journey and offered motivation to the new awardees.

“NamPower’s bursary program is more than just financial support. It is a foundation for opportunity, mentorship, and inspiration. Personally, it gave me the courage to tackle challenges,” he said.

The executive of human capital at NamPower, Selma Ambunda, celebrated the accomplishments of the recipients.

“It is a celebration of talent, a celebration of potential, and the promise of a bright future. Congratulations to all the recipients. You are the stars of today,” she said.
