Swakopmund , Namibia : The Namibia Sports Commission is hosting the Namibia Sports Award 2023 on October 28th at the MTC Dome in Swakopmund.
This exciting event will feature several activities leading up to the awards ceremony.
The event kicked off with a sports conference and expo. This includes a 1.5-day conference from October 25th to 26th, featuring workshops and panel discussions. The conference likely focuses on various aspects of sports, including sports diplomacy, player agency, and the journey of Namibian Olympic athletes.
The highlight of the event will be the annual Namibia Sports Awards ceremony taking place on Saturday, October 28th. This is where athletes and individuals who have made significant contributions to sports in Namibia will be recognized and celebrated.
Amongst the speakers during the sports conference is Mr. Jeremia Siweka from Impactul Youth Foundation who spoke on Sports Diplomacy and Global Collaboration. Mr. Siweka, discussion highlighted how sports can be a powerful tool for diplomacy and collaboration on the global stage, including the ways in which sports can transcend borders, cultures, and political differences to bring people and nations together.
While Mr. Peter Haufiku, Owner; Elifila Premium Sports Agency 27, shared insights on the Importance of Player Agency. His discussion emphasized the benefits of athletes taking control of their careers and the factors that contribute to their overall well-being and success in the world of sports and finally, Mr. Sherwin Vries, Former Olympian and Athletics Coach, shared insights on a Namibian Olympic Athlete’s Journey.
The event is being supported by the Ministry of Sport, Youth & National Service, NamPower, Debmarine Namibia, Standard Bank Namibia, Namdia, NWR and The DOME Swakopmund, NBC, Energy100fm and New Era. As part of NASA Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), activations on the margins of the main event will take place on Friday in Swakopmund.
