The Namibia Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has been named the Best Civil Aviation Authority in Africa at the Aviation Week Africa (AWA) Gala Night, held recently in Livingstone, Zambia.

This award recognises the NCAA’s role in fostering safe, secure, and efficient air transport across the continent.

Toska Sem, the NCAA’s Executive Director, accepted the award from Captain Gabriel Luembe, Director General of the Zambia Civil Aviation Authority.

Sem attributed the achievement to the collective efforts of the NCAA team, the guidance of the Board of Directors, support from stakeholders, and strategic direction from the Ministry of Works and Transport.

“This accolade is a direct result of the tireless efforts and dedication of our staff, the visionary leadership of our Board, and the continued support of our stakeholders and the Ministry,” she said.

The AWA Gala Night is part of the broader Aviation Week Africa event, an annual summit and exhibition that brings together aviation professionals, government officials, and industry leaders from across the continent.

The event aims to promote collaboration, knowledge sharing, innovation, and growth within Africa’s aviation sector.

The Best Civil Aviation Authority award celebrates outstanding performance and commitment to aviation safety and service delivery among Africa’s regulatory bodies.

According to the AWA, this award recognises and honors the civil aviation authority within the African continent that has demonstrated outstanding performance and contribution to the regulation and oversight of civil aviation activities.

Aviation Week Africa serves as a platform for incubating growth and development in both military and civil aviation sectors across the continent.

According to Sem, the recognition of the NCAA reiterates Namibia’s commitment to maintaining high standards in aviation safety and regulation.

“It also reflects the country’s dedication to contributing positively to the broader African aviation landscape,” she said.

Sem stressed that the award serves as motivation for the NCAA to continue enhancing its regulatory excellence.

“This continental recognition celebrates our commitment to aviation safety and service delivery across Africa,” she said.

According to Captain Luembe, the NCAA’s recognition sets a benchmark for regulatory bodies across the continent, encouraging a collective effort towards safer and more efficient air transport in Africa.
