The Namibia College of Open Learning (NAMCOL) wants to become an outstanding open distance and e-learning institution, that provides inclusive, high-quality education and training through innovative approaches.
The institute stated that it strives to offer opportunities for adults and out-of-school youth to advance their education and acquire new skills
Namcol signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Namibia Investment Promotion Development Board in May 2023 to strengthen its position in reaching its goal to implement the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Digital Bootcamps across nine regions at the NAMCOL Computer-Based Learning Centres.
Responding to questions sent to him yesterday, the NAMCOL Enterprise Development Marketing and ICT Manager, Phillip Kambonde said that the MSME Digital Bootcamps aim to up-skill and promote digitization as an enabler for business growth and advance the efficiency of MSMEs in operations and productivity as well as revenue-generating capabilities.
Kambonde emphasized that the Digital Bootcamps will impart and improve basic digital skills and the adoption rate of technological innovations.
“Through our strategic objective of Strengthening Marketing, Partnerships, and Collaborations, Namcol believes in partnerships and collaborations as one way to remain relevant, competitive, and sustainable,” Kambonde said.
He added that their primary objective for this partnership is to support NIPDB in reaching its aim of developing sustainable MSMEs, through technology transfer and innovation.
In line with its motto, ‘Taking Education to the People,’ they have made their Computer Centres available for this initiative, which demonstrates their commitment to inclusivity and leaving no one behind.
Similarly, the MSME Digital Bootcamps initiative, a partnership between NIPDB and NAMCOL was officially launched yesterday.
This initiative is aligned with the NIPDB’s mandate to coordinate MSME activities across all levers of the economy and will serve as a significant catalyst towards the development of globally competitive Namibian enterprises through targeted support and impactful partnerships.
The Regional Digital Bootcamps are designed to provide Namibian MSMEs with the critical digital skills and tools they need to compete and thrive in the global economy.
The Bootcamp campaign is funded by the Konrad-Adenauer Stiftung and will be conducted through hands-on training sessions at NAMCOL’s computer-based learning centres in Ongwediva from 24 to 28 July 2023, Rundu from 21 to 25 August 2023 and Otjiwarongo from 25 to 29 September 2023.
wThe Executive Director of MSME Development, Innovation and Acceleration, Dino Ballotti, said that their vision is to ensure that every MSME in Namibia has the opportunity to capitalise on the transformative power of digital technology.
