A total of 36 students from various institutions in Namibia and South Africa are beneficiaries of bursaries worth N$ 1 354 004.88 from the National Arts Council of Namibia.
It is reported that 200 applications were received.
“Thus, the National Arts Council of Namibia (NACN) has the pleasure to announce the bursary application results, at the value of N$ 1,354,004.88, which will provide bursaries to 36 approved applications under the NACN Bursary Fund,” said the council.
The successful applicants consist of 13 students from the College of the Arts, eight students from the University of Namibia, five students from COSDEF, four students from the Namibia University of Science and Technology, one from Triumphant College, two from the Limkonkwing University of Namibia and three Namibian students studying at South African universities.
According to the Council , the fields of study covered are Arts,Cultural Policy and Management, Arts Education (Visual Arts and Performing Arts), Curatorship, Arts,Cultural Journalism, Creative Writing, Arts Research, Digital Art, Gaming and Arts / Cultural Business.
“Application for study fields of students outside the Khomas Region were considered after the priority areas were exhausted. Although the short-listing of interviews was to take place, the NACN decided to avoid the process due to the announcement date that closed in.
The decision as recommended by the Council is final and no correspondences will be entered into,” they added.
