Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) has committed N$624.9 million towards upgrading telecommunications and digital infrastructure during the 2025/26 financial year.
The investment was announced during the ICT High-Level Stakeholder Engagement held in Oshakati and forms part of the company’s broader plan to strengthen connectivity, improve network performance and expand digital services across the country.
MTC chief brand, marketing, communications and sustainability officer Tim Ekandjo said the funding will support several infrastructure and technology projects aimed at modernising the network and preparing for future digital demands.
“This capital allocation is supporting initiatives such as network optimisation and modernisation, information and communication technology upgrades, transmission expansion, construction of new network towers and power infrastructure investments for network sites,” Ekandjo said.
He said the company will continue constructing additional network towers and expanding transmission infrastructure to respond to increasing data demand and improve nationwide connectivity.
“In line with our strategic rollout plan, we will continue constructing new network towers and expanding transmission infrastructure to support increasing data demand and improve nationwide connectivity,” he said.
Ekandjo said part of the investment will focus on improving telecommunications access in underserved and remote communities.
“This investment is particularly important in extending network coverage to underserved and remote areas, ensuring broader access to reliable telecommunications services for all Namibians,” he said.
MTC also plans to invest in power infrastructure to improve operational continuity and strengthen network resilience across its operations.
According to the company, part of the funding will support new strategic business initiatives linked to MTC’s long-term growth and innovation agenda.
Through the investment, MTC says it aims to strengthen its role in driving Namibia’s digital transformation and socio-economic development while continuing to provide telecommunications and ICT services across the country.
