Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) has confirmed its commitment to Namibia’s economic development, by making the largest cash contribution towards the 2026 Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair (OATF).

The company pledged N$350,000 during the trade fair’s fundraising gala dinner held on Saturday. This contribution helped to push the total amount raised to more than N$2.1 million ahead of the country’s premier business exhibition.

The fundraising gala raised a total of N$2,168,450 through a combination of cash pledges and in-kind contributions from corporate partners and stakeholders, providing a major boost to preparations for this year’s trade fair, which is scheduled to take place from 21 to 29 August at the Ongwediva Trade Fair Centre.

MTC emerged as the largest cash sponsor, highlighting its continued investment in initiatives that promote entrepreneurship, innovation and economic growth.

The telecommunications company has consistently supported platforms that create opportunities for businesses to expand their markets, forge partnerships and contribute to national development.

First National Bank (FNB) Namibia and the Ohlthaver & List (O&L) Group each pledged N$200,000, while Bank Windhoek committed N$100,000 towards the fundraising campaign.

In addition to the cash contributions, several organisations pledged in-kind support that increased the value of funds mobilised.

The Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) committed broadcasting and promotional services worth N$600,000, while Lithon Consulting Engineers pledged technical support valued at N$350,000.

The strong corporate response reflects growing confidence in the Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair as one of Namibia’s leading platforms for trade, investment and business development.

Over the years, the annual exhibition has become a key meeting point for entrepreneurs, manufacturers, service providers and investors from across the country and the Southern African region.

The trade fair provides an opportunity to showcase new products and services, attract potential clients, establish strategic partnerships and explore investment opportunities.

It also plays an important role in promoting small and medium enterprises by giving them access to wider markets and networking opportunities.

The funds raised during the gala dinner will assist organisers in preparing infrastructure, logistics and exhibition facilities ahead of the nine-day event, which is expected to attract hundreds of exhibitors and thousands of visitors.

Organisers said the overwhelming support from the private sector demonstrates the business community’s confidence in the trade fair’s contribution to economic growth, job creation and regional development.
