The Namibia Oil and Gas Conference and Exhibition (NOGC) confirmed the participation of Philip Mshelbila, Secretary General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), at the 4th edition of NOGC, taking place from 18–20 August in Windhoek.
Mshelbila assumed office on 1 January 2026 as the fifth Secretary General of the GECF.
A highly respected energy executive with more than three decades of international experience, he has played a leading role in shaping the global natural gas, liquefied natural gas (LNG), and power sectors.
His distinguished career spans executive leadership, board-level governance, strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, sustainability and large-scale project development.
Prior to joining the GECF, Mshelbila spent more than twenty years working for Shell, most recently serving as managing director and chief executive officer of NLNG.
He also held the position of chief executive officer of Atlantic LNG Company of Trinidad and Tobago.
Having lived and worked across Africa, the Americas, Europe, and the Caribbean, he brings a global perspective to discussions on the future of energy.
His participation comes at a pivotal time for Namibia as the country advances from exploration towards development and seeks to maximise the opportunities presented by its emerging hydrocarbons sector.
As one of the most influential voices in the global gas industry, Mshelbila’s insights will contribute greatly to the conversations shaping Namibia’s energy future.
NOGC 2026 will bring together government leaders, operators, investors, technical experts, service providers, financiers and policymakers from around the world to explore the opportunities, challenges and partnerships that will define the next chapter of Namibia’s energy journey.
Hosted by the Economic Association of Namibia (EAN), in partnership with the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB) and the Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF), with strategic partners Rhino Resources, National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia (Namcor) and SNC Incorporated, the conference is officially endorsed by Namibia’s Ministry of Industries, Mines and Energy.
