The Ministry of Health and Social Services (MoHSS) received a significant boost to its medical supplies on Thursday, with the donation of surgical gloves worth N$2.6 million from Cospharm Investment.
This contribution is set to alleviate the current shortage of disposable gloves in clinics and hospitals nationwide, ensuring better infection control and patient care across Namibia.
Cospharm Investment, a prominent pharmaceutical company, operates in Southern Africa, including Zimbabwe, Namibia, Botswana, South Africa, and remotely in Zambia.
The company’s growth is attributed to its deep understanding of the regulatory environment and market dynamics within these territories.
Fabiola Vahekeni, the Acting Director of the Directorate of Pharmaceutical Services at the health ministry, emphasized the timely nature of this donation.
“Gloves are essential in our health facilities for nearly all observations and procedures as part of our infection control measures. This contribution from Cospharm Investment is crucial in our ongoing efforts to prevent the spread of diseases,” Vahekeni explained.
She also highlighted the importance of being prepared for potential health crises, referencing a recent cholera outbreak in a neighbouring country.
The donated gloves are seen as a vital resource in ensuring Namibia’s readiness to combat similar outbreaks.
Vahekeni commended Cospharm Investment for their generous support and called upon other stakeholders to follow suit in aiding the ministry’s mission to provide comprehensive healthcare services.
Elina Veijo, the General Manager of Cospharm Investment, expressed the company’s commitment to partnering with the MoHSS.
“Supporting the ministry aligns with our values of reliability, integrity, diversity, innovation, accountability, and commitment. We believe that a healthy nation is a happier nation, and it’s our collective responsibility to enhance Namibia’s health systems for the benefit of our people and future generations,” Veijo stated.
This partnership between Cospharm Investment and the MoHSS serves as a testament to the positive impact of collaborative efforts between the private sector and government entities in improving healthcare services and infrastructure in Namibia.
