The 10th Mining Expo and Conference that will take place this week will be the platform that brings Namibia’s mining sector closer to the heart of the nation, its people, the Chamber of Mines of Namibia said.
The Expo and Conference Scheduled to take place on the 30th and 31st of August, reflecting the industry’s commitment to openly engage all stakeholders.

The theme for this year’s conference, “Namibia’s Role in the Sustainable Supply of Minerals to Support the Global Energy Transition,” holds profound significance, underscoring our industry’s pivotal role in the sustainable energy transition, both locally and across the world.
Veston Malango, CEO, Chamber of Mines of Namibia said at the core of the Expo are four fundamental objectives. The first one is to showcase the Namibian mining industry to Namibian citizens.
The Expo and Conference provides a rare opportunity for every Namibian citizen to witness the remarkable achievements, advancements, and potential within its mining sector.
Malango said from responsible practices to cutting edge technologies, the event showcases the industry’s commitment to sustainable development and responsible stewardship of its natural resources.
He said the conference said present and discuss industry contributions by assessing the mining sector’s positive impact on the Namibian economy while addressing the challenges it faces.
In parallel to the Mining Expo, the conference will also host the Mining Conference which serves as a platform for meaningful dialogue and debate on current issues relevant to Namibia’s mining sector.
“This year, the conference programme encompasses a wide range of pertinent topics on Namibia’s mining sector, including an overview of the industry, current debates on policy and legislation, and how Namibia’s resource endowment can support the global energy transition,” Malango said.
He said the conference will also engage with stakeholders on business opportunities in the mining industry, particularly local suppliers and contractors because central to its vision of a thriving mining
sector is the empowerment of local businesses and communities.
“The 2023 Mining Expo and Conference provides a platform for stakeholders to engage, explore opportunities, and forge partnerships that strengthen the supply chain and drive local content objectives. Together, we can unlock the full potential of our industry, fostering economic growth and development across the nation,” he said.
