President Nangolo Mbumba urged all eligible voters, especially the youth in the Omusati Region and nationwide, to register for the presidential and national assembly elections before the cutoff date of 1 August.
Speaking at the opening of the third edition of the Ehao Cultural Expo 2024 on Wednesday, Mbumba addressed issues affecting Namibia.
“Exercise your democratic right and patriotic duty by voting for the party and presidential candidate of your choice, and thereby ensure that you enable Namibia to continue traversing the path towards further growth as a peaceful, stable, and prosperous country,” he said.
Voter educators on Sunday visited churches across the country to explain the registration process.
He also discussed the ongoing drought’s impact on agriculture and livelihoods, noting that the government is providing drought assistance and emergency food.
He urged those who have not yet received aid to report to regional governors’ offices or the Office of the Prime Minister for timely assistance.
Mbumba emphasised the importance of the Ehao Cultural Expo in promoting cultural preservation and economic development.
He noted that the expo serves as a platform for local businesses, cultural tourism, and community unity.
“The name ‘Ehao’, meaning small clay pot, symbolises community and togetherness. When people come together, amazing things can happen. Community helps us form relationships, find support and gain opportunities that can aid us in advancing our lives and the lives of those around us,” he explained.
The president highlighted the expo’s goals to support local businesses, promote cultural tourism, and attract investment to Okahao.
He commended the exhibitors for their participation and encouraged visitors to support the various stalls.
