Explaining their financial sources, the Landless People’s Movement (LPM) says the party has strong financial support from members and business personalities.
“Our financial support comes from our party members and business people who sympathise with us,” the party revealed.
Speaking at a press conference yesterday in Windhoek, the Party Leader, Bernadus Swartbooi, explained that, in 2019, the Party ran a successful campaign without any cent from the government.
This is in response to questions raised by members of the public, that the party spends money on buying vehicles.
Swartbooi explained that LPM, as a political party, requires vehicles for different party activities, including political campaigns and reaching out to the masses.
While on this point, he indicated that the party requires more cars, and it will continue to buy more.
“I think we need about 100 vehicles. These vehicles will be assigned to various party members in different regions to ensure the successful activities of the party,” he stressed.
Swartbooi used the opportunity to advise and encourage members of the media to report on things that matter.
He said some journalists are political haters, and what they report news meant to tarnish the image and reputation of the party.
Swartbooi urged journalists to dish out burning issues like corruption and investigate more imbalances.
Meanwhile, LPM Deputy Leader, Henny Seibeb, expressed that some journalists do not do their research before writing. Added that some took issues to report on things that are not newsworthy.
“Some journalists think we are not good at conducting research. Some of us are good at that area, as politicians,’ Seibeb said.
He commented on vehicle-related issues and said they need cars to reach out to the people.
“We cannot walk long distances on our feet. If we do, you will say look at this one campaigning on feet. They do not even have cars, and they are campaigning,” he commented.
