Learners of the Ponhofi Secondary School in the Ohangwena region recently participated in an interactive session on sex education.
The event last week brought together both male and female learners to discuss important topics affecting their growth and future aspirations.
The session was led by motivational speaker and youth advisor, Andreas Robert.
“Our session, open to both boys and girls, was full of meaningful conversations and inspiring energy,” Robert said.
He warned the learners about the dangers of teenage pregnancy.
“You have a bright future. You getting pregnant is just another distraction that is going to take you away, out of your way, so that you may not reach that destiny you are supposed to reach,” he added.
Robert also encouraged learners to reach out to their parents and teachers for advice.
“Sometimes it is also good to open up to your parents. Open up to your life skills teacher,” he said.
Robert explained that the overwhelming amount of interest and questions from the male learners stood out to him.
“The boy child also needs consistent inclusion and mentorship in conversations about growth, success, and future aspirations,” he said.
Robert believes that youth mentorship is the foundation for a better tomorrow.
“It was such a wonderful experience engaging with the youth and doing what I’m most passionate about—empowering the next generation,” he said.
