Kasi Magic emerged as the champions of the Afrocat Sports Club’s inaugural beach netball tournament held over the weekend at A. Shipena secondary school.
This tournament saw ten teams competing in an exciting display of athleticism and skill, paving the way for the expansion of beach netball as a recognized discipline.
Kasi Magic was closely followed by Goal Getters, who secured the runners-up position. On The Move claimed third place, while Dream Team finished in fourth.
Dimitri Bittler, the Operations Officer for Afrocat, expressed pride in the achievement, emphasizing its significance not just for the club, but for the Khomas region and the country at large.
“Introducing beach netball is an achievement that goes beyond just a single event. It’s about diversifying the sport and providing more platforms for athletes to showcase their talent,” he said.
With the tournament receiving positive feedback, plans are already in motion for an even bigger event later in the year.
Bittler said Afrocat remains committed to developing new sporting opportunities and fostering growth in netball through innovative approaches.
“This initiative not only highlights Afrocat’s dedication to sports development but also sets a strong foundation for the potential expansion of beach netball in Namibia. If this weekend’s tournament is anything to go by, the future of the sport looks bright,” he said.
