Kashuupulwa was also named as the new Regional Commander of the Ohangwena region.
NamPol Inspector General, Joseph Shikongo promoted Kashuupulwa from Deputy Commissioner to Commissioner an elevation that took effect on August 1.
Commissioner Kashuupulwa took over for Commissioner Elizabeth Sibolile, whose service as an active public servant expired on July 31, when she reached retirement age.
According to NamPol’s Public Relations Division’s Deputy Commissioner, Kauna Shikwambi, Commissioner Kashuupulwa began her policing career on November 6, 1990.

“She is a seasoned and experienced investigator and police officer with a wide knowledge of police operations as well as community policing,” Shikwambi added.
Shikwambi stated that Commissioner Kashuupulwa was transferred from Walvis Bay to Oshakati in 2017 and designated Head of Operations Division, a position she held until she was appointed Ohangwena Regional Police Commander.
“Commissioner Kashuupulwa has progressed well in all ranks and has attended a variety of fundamental training and advanced courses both nationally and internationally, including Specialised Criminal Investigation, Senior Police Officers Management and Leadership, Command and Leadership for Senior Police Women, Security Awareness and Intelligence Collection, SARPCCO Code of Conduct and Human Rights, Leadership and Diplomacy,” she said.
Shikwambi highlighted that Commissioner Kashuupulwa has a Bachelor of Policing Practice Honours Degree and a Certificate in Criminal Justice.
She has also had foreign responsibilities, such as serving as a SADC Election Observer in Zimbabwe in 2013 and served as an election observer in Mauritius in 2014 and has received numerous honours and medals throughout her professional career.
During the exchange of instruments and symbols of authority and command, as well as the signing of the handing over and taking over ceremony between the outgoing and incoming Regional Commanders, which took place in Eenhanaon on Monday, IG Shikongo expressed his optimism and confidence that Commissioner Kashuupulwa will carry out the noble responsibility of directing policing activities in the region with renewed vigour and determination to build on the good foundation that has been established.
IG Shikongo urged the new Regional Commander to combat crime, maintain and strengthen security, safeguard the peace, protect lives and property, and maintain good relations with the Ohangwena region’s people.
