George Simataa, the Secretary to the Cabinet, in a statement, disclosed that Prime Minister Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila made this appointment based on the recommendation of the Public Service Commission.
He said the appointment is made in accordance with Sections 5(1) and 19(A)(1) of the Public Service Act, 1995 (Act No. 13 of 1995).
Ithindi’s appointment is on a fixed-term contract of five years, set to commence on 1 December 2023. He currently serves as the Deputy Executive Director in the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Land Reform, within the Department of Planning, Marketing, and Administration.
According to the statement, Ithindi’s professional background includes prior service as Deputy Executive Director/Senior Technical Economic Advisor to the Minister of Finance from 2016 to 2021. Ithindi holds a BA degree in Economics and Mathematics, as well as a Master of Science in Financial Economics.
In his statement, Simataa congratulated Ithindi on his appointment and extended his best wishes for success in his new role.
He also took the opportunity to express gratitude to Bryan Eiseb, acknowledging his commendable performance during his acting tenure at the Ministry over the past twelve (12) months.
Ithindi’s appointment as the new Executive Director of the Ministry of Mines and Energy signifies a critical moment in the leadership of the ministry, with expectations of his contributions to the continued development and regulation of Namibia’s vital energy and mining sectors.
