With only three days left until Namibia celebrates its 35th Independence Day, the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology revealed the official celebratory theme and logo for the next five years.
The ministry’s executive director, Audrin Mathe in a statement on Monday announced the theme, “Beyond 35: For a Prosperous Future” and said it reflects the nation’s commitment to unity, development, and progress.
Speaking at the unveiling, Mathe said that the theme reinforces the collective responsibility to build a stronger, more prosperous nation.
He added that the new logo is aimed at inspiring Namibians to continue working towards a better future while honouring the achievements of the past.
The new logo, which will feature prominently in official branding until 2029, was the result of a nationwide design competition that drew 480 entries from across the country.
Mathe said that Windhoek-based graphic designer Simon Tangeni Newawa won the contest, with Konstantinus Shuukwanyama securing the runner-up position.
He said the winning design incorporates colours and symbols that reflect Namibia’s identity.
“The yellow sun symbolises life, energy, and prosperity, while the blue represents our vast sky, the Atlantic Ocean, and cultural diversity. Green signifies natural vegetation and agricultural richness, and red represents the blood shed during the liberation struggle,” he explained.
Mathe added that minor refinements were made in collaboration with the designers to ensure alignment with national symbols, including the incorporation of the correct sun from the national flag.
He also indicated that the new logo and theme are now accessible to the public on the ministry’s website and social media platforms.
Mathe called on citizens to embrace the theme and logo as symbols of national pride and continued progress.
