The Namibia Football Association (NFA) has announced that all 16 rounds of fixtures for the MTC Maris Cup competition will take place at the Hage Geingob Rugby Stadium in Windhoek.

The NFA released the fixtures this week, indicating that the games will take place from 25 to 26 January.

Newly promoted King Kauluma Palace Football Club will take on the Debmarine Premier League log leader, Khomas Nampol. They will be followed by Gobabis-based Young African, who will face Karasburg-based Young Brazilian.

The third game of the day will be Okahandja United Football Club versus Blue Waters from Walvis Bay, while the University of Namibia Football Club versus northern-based Eeshoke Chula Chula will close the day.

The first game of the second day will be between another newly promoted team, Cuca Tops from Rundu, taking on Ongos Football Club, while Civics Football Club plays against another Rundu-based team, Julinho Sporting.

The third game of day two will see Might Gunners from Otjiwarongo take on Tigers, and the last game will be between Blue Boys and Debmarine Premier League reigning champions African Stars.

The MTC Maris Cup, launched in Windhoek in November last year, will see the winner walk away with N$1,5 million, the most prize money in Namibian football’s history.

During the launch, Tim Ekandjo from MTC stated that each team will receive an allowance of N$30 000 in preparation fees for each match that they will play to help the team prepare and to travel, and those that are going to progress to the final will each receive N$40 000.

MTC is the main sponsor of the tournament.

There will also be prize money for the player of the tournament, the top goal scorer and the top goalkeeper of the tournament, who will each receive N$ 20 000.

Ekandjo added that there will also be special prizes for football fans.
