The government has allocated an amount of N$179 million in the midterm budget to the ministry of agriculture, fisheries, water and land reform, for the containment and management of the outbreak of Foot-and-Mouth Disease.
“This amount was mobilised through the 2% reduction applied to the expenditure ceilings of all Offices, Ministries, and Agencies (OMAs),” finance minister, Ericah Shafudah said.
She said following the outbreak of FMD on 23 September 2026, the agriculture ministry has undertaken various containment measures against Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD).
“We remain committed to containing the outbreak and the relevant ministry will continue to closely monitor the situation and take the necessary actions to ensure speedy return to normality.”
