Over 10,000 spectators are expected to converge on the capital of the Omaheke region, eagerly anticipating the showcase of young talent in both football and netball. Teams have been gearing up for months, and anticipation is particularly high among defending champions and eager challengers alike.
Edward Hauwombo, the team manager of the 2023 football champions, expressed his team’s determination to defend their title despite facing challenges in preparation. “One of the biggest issues we faced was the athletes not having enough time to prepare as parents are more focused on their kids’ pursuing their education,” he explained. However, Hauwombo affirmed that despite these obstacles, his team is fully committed to giving their all in Gobabis.
Similarly, Remonde Helmo, captain of the Erongo Region netball team, conveyed her team’s readiness to compete for top honors. Reflecting on past achievements and challenges, Helmo expressed confidence in her team’s preparedness for the 2024 edition of the tournament.
