The Erongo Regional Council has paid tribute to the late founding father Sam Nujoma, who passed away on Saturday night.

In a statement on Monday, Erongo Regional Council Chairperson Benitha Imbamba expressed condolences on behalf of the region’s people, recognising Nujoma’s enduring legacy.

“It is with profound sorrow that the Erongo Regional Council extends its heartfelt condolences to the Nujoma family and the entire Namibian nation. Dr Nujoma was not only the Founding Father of the Namibian nation but also a revolutionary icon whose leadership qualities will forever remain in the hearts and minds of all Namibians,” Imbamba said.

Imbamba added that Nujoma was known for his unwavering commitment to Namibia’s liberation struggle and that he dedicated his life to fighting for freedom, justice, and equality.

Imbamba described his leadership as one of strength and resilience, built on a profound belief in unity and an enduring compassion for the Namibian people.

“As the first President of the Republic of Namibia, Dr Nujoma exemplified leadership rooted in integrity and courage. He never backed down in the face of adversity and stood firm in his determination to serve his people. He inspired us with his vision for peace, prosperity, and justice for all,” she said.

Reflecting on Nujoma’s revolutionary journey, Imbamba emphasised that his leadership was never about personal gain but about the welfare and dignity of all Namibians.

She added that his tireless efforts in the struggle for independence, she noted, were a testament to his selfless dedication and love for his nation.

“As we celebrate the life of a legend and a great statesman, we are reminded of his unwavering vision for Namibia. His legacy will endure for generations to come,” Imbamba said.

The Erongo Regional Council also extended its deepest condolences to the Nujoma family and urged the nation to find comfort during this time of loss.
