The dismembered body found in a riverbed along the Daan Viljoen road outside Windhoek has been identified as 27-year-old Danelize Madjiedt, who was reported missing on 30 August 2026.
Acting Inspector-General of the Namibian Police Force, Major-General Anne-Marie Nainda, confirmed the identification during a media briefing in Windhoek on Wednesday.
The body was discovered on 5 October after a member of the public alerted police at Otjomuise. Officers attended the scene and launched an investigation, with the remains taken for forensic examination to establish the woman’s identity.
Nainda said DNA testing conducted on 12 October confirmed that the remains belonged to Madjiedt. Her family was officially notified on Tuesday, 13 October.
“Her identity is now known and after briefing today we will have additional request to identify her with the photo and the additional information that we have,” Nainda said.
In an earlier appeal, police urged residents and motorists in Otjomuise, Khomasdal, Daan Viljoen and surrounding areas to provide information that could assist investigators.
Nainda said persons of interest are currently undergoing investigative processes, while searches for the remaining body parts continue.
“Search efforts to recover the missing body parts remain active as well as to bring the perpetrators to book,” police said.
Police have not disclosed further details about the persons of interest or possible arrests as investigations continue.
