The Development Bank of Namibia (DBN) has announced the appointments of two senior executives to its executive committee, further strengthening the bank’s leadership capacity as it advances its developmental mandate and strategic objectives.
Johannes Mbango has been appointed chief credit risk officer, effective 1 July 2026, while Tjivingurura Mbuende will assume the role of chief investment officer, effective 1 August 2026.
Commenting on the appointments, DBN chief executive officer, Titus Ndove, said the appointments represent an important investment in the bank’s leadership capability.
“The appointments of John Mbango and Tjivi Mbuende reinforce DBN’s commitment to strong leadership, sound governance and sustainable development finance. Both executives bring exceptional experience, strategic insight and leadership capability that will strengthen the bank as we continue to deliver on our mandate of driving Namibia’s socio-economic development.”
Mbango brings more than twenty years of experience at the Development Bank of Namibia, having served in several key leadership positions across the bank’s lending and credit functions.
His previous roles include head of coverage, head of portfolio management, head of lending and, most recently, acting chief credit risk officer.
His extensive institutional knowledge and expertise in development finance, portfolio management and risk governance position him well to lead the Bank’s credit risk function during a period of continued growth and transformation.
Mbango holds a master of science in financial economics from the University of London and a bachelor of economics from the University of Namibia.
He has also completed executive development programmes through Stellenbosch Business School, Euromoney and Queen’s University.
Mbuende joins DBN with more than fifteen years of executive and senior leadership experience in Namibia’s financial services industry.
His career includes senior positions at Nedbank Namibia, STANLIB Namibia, Standard Bank Namibia and Alex Forbes Invest, where he has led corporate and investment banking, public sector banking investment management, business development and strategic growth initiatives.
He also serves as a non-executive director on several corporate boards.
Mbuende holds a master of arts in economics from The New School University in New York and a bachelor of business in corporate finance and marketing from the University of Technology in Sydney, Australia.
The appointments form part of DBN’s ongoing commitment to strengthening its executive leadership to support the successful implementation of the bank’s Integrated Strategic Business Plan and its long-term development objectives.
The DBN said it continues to play a pivotal role in financing projects that stimulate economic growth, promote industrialisation, create employment opportunities and improve the quality of life for all Namibians.
