Several companies listed on the Namibia Stock Exchange have announced a number of changes to their boards.
Bannerman Energy Ltd announced the appointment of experienced mining executive Bruce McFadzean as a non-executive director, with immediate effect.
McFadzean is a mining engineer with over 40 years of mining and process experience across a broad range of commodities and geographies.
He has had extensive exposure to all levels of operations and corporate leadership throughout his career, including managing the construction, commissioning, and ramp-up of six new mining operations globally.
Bannerman’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Brandon Munro, said: “We are delighted to welcome an individual of Bruce’s professional and personal caliber to the Bannerman Board. His development and operational experience is extensive and will be highly valuable as we advance our flagship Etango Uranium Project into development and commercial production. I look forward to working closely with Bruce, and his interaction with the wider Bannerman team as we seek to capture the full technical and commercial potential that the world-class Etango deposit offers.”
Namibia Breweries Limited also announced leadership and board changes with Peter Simons retiring as managing director of the NBL Board effective 31 December. NBL thanked Simons for his valued contribution to NBL.
Simons joined the Heineken Group in 1991 and has built a very successful career holding multiple management positions across Europe, Asia and Africa.
He worked in multiple roles and departments, spanning over different countries and continents.
At the end of 2021, he was appointed integration officer for NBL, responsible for leading the integration of planning for NBL and Distell.
In April 2023, he was appointed Managing Director of NBL and led the successful integration of the two businesses.
NBL has appointed Waldemar von Lieres as the new managing director, effective from 1 January 2025. Von Lieres has been serving as NBL’s finance director since July 2019. The NBL board is looking forward to the leadership transition under his guidance.
NBL also appointed Willem Bierens de Haan as the new finance director, effective 1 January 2025, subject to the necessary regulatory approvals. De Haan will also be appointed to the NBL Board.
Capricorn Group Limited announced the appointment of Erna Solomon as an independent non-executive director of Bank Windhoek. Solomon will continue serving as an independent non-executive director on the boards of both Capricorn Group and Bank Windhoek.
