Justice minister shares strategic vision for the next five years

Children assessed for malnutrition

By: Niël Terblanché Namibia is currently undertaking a substantial country-wide initiative to assess and address malnutrition among children, as part of the ongoing Vulnerability Assessment and Analysis (VAA) campaign. The campaign, spearheaded by the Office of the Prime Minister, is a critical measure in response to increasing food and nutrition insecurity, which employs the Mid-Upper Arm Circumference (MUAC) method, a rapid and straightforward tool for identifying malnutrition in children. Namibia receives humanitarian support against hunger

Niël Terblanché The Government of the State of Qatar has donated 102 tons of food parcels to Namibia, aimed at alleviating the severe drought-induced food insecurity plaguing the country. The Office of the Prime Minister received the first consignment of 60 pallets, comprising of food packages of essential food items such as maize meal, rice, cooking oil, tinned fish, and tinned meat. THOUSANDS REGISTERED:

The Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) has registered a total number of 187 171 Namibians who are eligible to vote both inside the country and abroad.The number represents an average of 31 195 voters per day over a period of six days.This was announced on Thursday by the ECN’s chief electoral and referenda officer, Peter Shaama.The General Registration of Voters commenced on 3 June and will continue until 1 August.Shaama made it clear that there will not be a supplementary registration period this year.He urged eligible voters to ensure they register before the deadline.Report: Martin Endjala.

FAO donates freezers to store vaccines

Five members of the SWAPO Party have taken legal action against their own party, seeking to invalidate a key decision made by the party's central committee to postpone the extraordinary congress to 19 April 2025. The applicants, Joshua Vaino Martins, Petrus Ndeshipanda Shituula, Aina Kalimba Angula, Reinhold Nghihepavali Shipwikineni, and Erich Chrismann Shivute, filed a Notice of Motion with the High Court of Namibia on Thursday. The former secretary general of the SADC Parliamentary Forum (SADC PF), Esau Chiviya, has died. Chiviya, a Zimbabwean who served at the helm of the regional interparliamentary body, died on Monday (3 June) in Windhoek, according to a statement by the forum. His body will be repatriated to Zimbabwe for burial. The Speaker of the National Assembly, Peter Katjavivi, led parliament on Tuesday, observing a minute of silence in memory of Chiviya.
