MUN secures wage deal

The Mine Workers Union of Namibia (MUN) and Gezhouba Mining Services (Pty) Ltd concluded a three-year wage agreement.The parties agreed to a wage increase of between 6% for the employees in the grades C-1/C2 and 7% for the job grades A-3/B2 respectively until December 2026.The parties also agreed to a 30-minute payable shift allowance for all employees in the bargaining unit.Amongst the other benefits agreed to between the parties, is the continuous training and skills development of employees in the bargaining unit. NEFF ordered to return registration certificate

The Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) has directed the Namibia Economic Freedom Fighters (NEFF) party to return the party's registration certificate.The ECN’s chief electoral and referenda officer, Peter Shaama, in a letter on Monday evening, notified the NEFF that it failed to file the necessary financial statements.As a result, it has been deregistered and its registration certificate cancelled. Earthquake shakes Kalkfeld

The Ministry of Mines and Energy through its geological survey department, has reported an earthquake on Sunday 18 km south of Kalkfeld.This was announced today by the ministry's deputy executive director, Gloria Simubali.According to her statement, the earthquake was recorded at 16h31 local time.It was recorded by four seismic stations namely, Karibib, Windhoek, Kamanjab and Tsumeb.The earthquake registered a local magnitude of 3.2 at a latitude of 21.056 degrees south and a longitude of 16.199 degrees east.The earthquake was recorded at a shallow depth of less than ten kilometres."At this magnitude, the event can be felt, but is not expected…

DIPPENAAR GUILTY:

Jandre Dippenaar has been found guilty on six charges of murder in the Swakopmund Regonal Court. Magistrate Gaynor Paulton also found Dippenaar guilty on the charge of reckless and negligent driving as well as on a charge of operating a vehicle without a valid driver's license. The charges stem from a horrific car crash that occurred near Henties Bay at the end of 2014. The crash claimed the lives of six people. The convicted person and Antonia Joschko were the only survivors.
