The Bank of Namibia (BoN) on Friday honoured Namibian athletics legend Frank Fredericks by officially presenting him with a commemorative coin that was minted in his honour three decades ago but was never handed over.

The commemorative coin was first minted in 1996, during the tenure of Tom Alweendo as Deputy Governor of the BoN. However, despite its significance, the coin remained unpresented until now.

The official presentation marked the closing of a 30-year chapter, with BoN finally recognising Fredericks’ outstanding contribution to Namibian sport through the symbolic gesture.
