SWAKOPMUND based football club, Blue Boys Football Club (FC) has appointed Elton Katangolo as the president of an interim Executive Committee charged with leading the team towards stability, growth and enriched community involvement.
Katangolo will lead Blue Boys’ interim Executive Committee for the 2023/24 season.
The committee will also consist of Chairperson, Elton Katangolo, Vice-Chairperson, Eddy Angula, General Secretary, Laina Junias, Team Manager- Likkius Ellias, Treasurers- Frans Hamunyela and Imanuel Kaufilwa.
Meanwhile, Marvin Sakeus was named Public Relations Officer, with Regto David named as Legal Advisor, with Victor Petrus and Charles Sabatha named as additional executive members.
According to the club, the Executive Committee was elected at the Extra-Ordinary General Meeting held on August 12 at the Vrede Rede Hall, in Swakopmund.
“On this occasion, Blue Boys FC also received sponsorship of N$ 500,000 from Mavro and Dynami Investments and RND Trading (Pty) Ltd for the 2023/24 football season. The Committee is tasked with revitalising the Club’s structure to encompass a Football Youth Academy, Women’s Football, Netball, Volleyball, and Athleticsteams. They will also review and update the Club’s Constitution and get ready for the Annual General Meeting, which will involve members with active (paid up) memberships.
“In a community-focused effort, Blue Boys FC will actively participate in extramural social activities in Swakopmund. This includes initiatives aimed at protecting youth from alcohol and drug abuse as well as working with the mining community to seek sponsorships to mitigate crime and social challenges facing the youth, especially in Mondesa” said club president Norbert Sakeus.
Founded in 1958, in Mondesa, Swakopmund, Blue Boys FC is a cornerstone of Swakopmund’s sporting landscape.
