More a question of lack of ideology than legalism

Kae Matundu-Tjiparuro Recent pronouncements by His Excellency, Dr Hage Geingob, President of the Republic of Namibia, which is essentially the wholesaling of Namibian resources to foreign Capitalists, is not only instructive and reawakening, but revolutionary revisionism of the highest order and retrogression if not betrayal of the Namibian revolution. Because if Namibian independence and freedom, flag independence proper, must have been the first phase of the Namibian Revolution only by the understanding and interpretation of Yours Truly Ideologically, if not that of most of the wretched of the Namibian Revolution with nothing else to loose in the revolution but their…

How to get houses below N$800 000

Malcolm Ndjiharine Last year I received a call from a young lady who was interested in a 3-bedroom house for sale in Wanaheda. She asked when she could view the house and I told her we were showing the house later that day at 18:00, of which she said she was not able to. She then proceeded to say she would only see it the following day and I said no problem, provided the house is still available. To my surprise, the madam called back a few minutes later and confirmed to rather view that same day at 18:00. That…

You’re Racist, Here’s Why…..An insight into racism and racial identity in the UK

Nameya Jacobs The Black Lives Matter protests in 2020 reignited the flame many have tried to extinguish, (“the flame” being a call for accountability and “many” being white people). You didn’t need a TV license or social media account to know what #BLM stood for, and probably had an opinion on the movement before you’d even read an article about it. White people were, once again, confronted with their privilege and asked to take accountability for their actions and the actions of the people who looked like them. Some played their part. They attended protests, signed petitions, and even watched…

Geingob’s rule misfortune or mismanagement – Experts

Monday, the 21st of March marks the seventh anniversary of President Hage Geingob’s reign. He is in the last half of the second and last term of his presidency. Geingob’s presidency was characterised by a number of new developments at the beginning of his administration, where he announced during his inauguration a one-thousand-dollar increase in old-age pensions, introduced an A-team of specialists in various fields in his office on top of his Cabinet, created new ministries and agencies and a what he termed a short term economic recovery plan, the Harambee Prosperity Plan 1. These were grand plans, which to…

Namibia still in search for renaissance leader

President Hage Geingob came to the Presidency in 2005 with an impressive record as the architect of Namibia’s public service and there were high hopes that he would build a value system consistent to what he did with the civil service. He was seen as the one who would lead the ‘Namibian Renaissance’, President Geingob’s ardent critic, Professor Joseph Diescho, told the Windhoek Observer. Diescho says the vast knowledge about and experience of public administration of Geingob set him apart from his predecessors to develop and implement an all-inclusive Namibia nation philosophy, as per one of the most favourite slogans.…

Ndaitwah’s ascendancy to presidency uncertain…. Kapofi comes to the party

Eba Kandovazu THE 2022 Swapo congress slated for November will elect a new party leadership, but most importantly, it will nominate the Swapo candidate for the country’s Presidential election in 2024 to succeed President Hage Geingob. With less than seven months to go before the elective congress, the race seems to be quiet compared to previous congresses. However, Namibians are starting to wonder as to who may emerge as the eventual successor of Geingob. The only indication at this stage is that Geingob will retain the Swapo presidency and that the race will be for the coveted Vice President position,…

Martin Endjala The Anti-corruption Commission Director General Paulus Noah has admitted that the fight against corruption is failed by government office bearers not implementing the systems in place to the letter. The ACC conducted induction training during the launch to engage in dialogue with different stakeholders and to give clarification on some of its strategic action plans. Noah said…
