In a strategic move to bolster its digital finance offerings, Bank Windhoek has announced the appointment of Candy Ngula as the Head of Electronic Money (e-Money).
The announcement, made by James Chapman, the Executive Officer of Retail Banking Services and Specialist Finance, marks a significant milestone in the bank’s efforts to enhance and optimize its e-Money services across its retail banking sector.
Ngula, whose appointment became effective on 1 February 2024, is a seasoned professional in the financial sector.
She transitioned to Bank Windhoek from the Bank of Namibia (BoN), where she held the position of Deputy Director of Oversight, Licensing, and Policy in the National Payment Systems Department.
Her tenure at BoN was characterized by her essential role in overseeing the country’s payments ecosystem, both domestic and regional.
Ngula played a key leadership role in driving digital innovation and transformation within the financial sector, significantly contributing to advancements in digital payments and the broader payments industry.
Her academic background is equally impressive, holding an undergraduate degree from Rhodes University and a Bachelor of Honours Degree in Information Systems from the University of the Witwatersrand.
Ngula is currently furthering her expertise with a Master of Science in Engineering Business Management at the University of Bath.
Her commitment to professional development is emphasized by her completion of various leadership, digital payments, and innovation-centric programs and certifications.
Chapman’s announcement highlighted Ngula’s instrumental role in shaping and influencing developments and innovations in the financial sector, particularly in the realm of digital payments.
He said that Ngula is tasked with driving the value of e-Money services, focusing on growth and optimization within the bank’s retail banking services.
Chapman added that her extensive experience in payment systems oversight and policy development positions her as an ideal leader to spearhead Bank Windhoek’s e-Money initiatives, promising a future of enhanced digital payment solutions for the bank’s clientele.
