Artist in the spotlight:Takudzwa Mukesi

Takudzwa Mukesi is a 22year old Zimbabwean national living in Namibia. He is an all-round senior architectural technologist, artist, and researcher.

He has completed his bachelor’s and honors degrees in architecture and currently pursuing his master’s in architecture at the Namibia University of Science and Technology. He makes visual art and architectural explorations under the name skeptic world. Takudzwa makes use of different fields in visual representation and communication that include architecture, video art, photography, graphic design painting, model building, graffiti, fashion design visual art. He has worked on institutional projects for the Namibia and the City of Windhoek that include the reimagination of the old community settlements, community enhance project with the city of Windhoek and informal settlement upgrading strategy of Namibia. These were collaborative projects with international partners such as….

Takudzwa has worked on projects to represent, test and experiment on the relationship between body and digital spaces. This is through art installation, exhibitions or product that test the research that he conducts at the university. This includes projects such as the World of skeptic Instagram live exhibition and movie in collaboration with Lvminvs a local music producer and sound artist , to test the relationship between emotion, narrative, and participation in digital media. Skhooli, a collaboration with a local graphic designer, Hooligan experimented on the different approaches of engagement and the work on fashion, product and art, with the ideology of the democratization of art. This is also testing, introducing and engaging the viewer as a co-creator of the art, product, or experience. In this they also has conducted online and physical exhibition to which makes use of digital applications, filters, and effects to increase viewer engagement and through co creation adding depth to the narrative and va
lue of the art.

Takudzwa’s skills in trade and beyond, allows for a people centered view of the world moreso art. Exploring ways of life through the different facets of art, communication, and space. This enables people to see the different spaces that people create and occupy spiritually, virtually, or physically and the dynamic relationship they have with each other.
