The 29-year-old Frieda Amadhila was allegedly killed by her 22-year-old boyfriend in the early hours of Monday at a flat in Windhoek.
Chief Inspector Elifas Kuwinga, member of the Namibian Police’s Public Relations Division, confirmed that Amadhila was stabbed in the chest and arms with a knife at around 01:07 today.
It is alleged that the suspect and the deceased were fighting in their residence in a block of flats on Ballot Street.
He said the neighbours called the police and reported the domestic violence incident.
Upon arrival, the police found the flat locked and were informed by the neighbours that the suspect had driven off.
“According to the nurses at Katutura Intermediate Hospital, the suspect parked his vehicle at the emergency room entrance and informed them that someone in the car needed urgent attention. The deceased was declared dead upon arrival,” said Kuwinga.
Kuwinga said the suspect is yet to be arrested because he is fighting for his life due to an injury he sustained on his throat. He added that this suspect is in a critical condition.
He said the murder weapon was not found at the scene of the attack, and the police investigation into the matter continues.
This is the third incidence of Gender-Based Violence that led to the death of a woman in the space of two weeks.
On Saturday, Lena Williams (29) was stabbed to death by her 26-year-old ex-boyfriend at her house in Usakos.
The suspect also kidnapped the child of his former girlfriend and fled with her into the mountains surrounding Usakos.
The suspect was apprehended and the child was found safely along the path to the mountains.
