Namibian mountain bike sensation Alex Miller showed his form once again as he clinched victory in the XC0 race at the first leg of the Nedbank Rock and Rut XC series. Miller, who has been in top form, secured his fourth consecutive win in the event, crossing the finish line in a remarkable time of one hour, 25 minutes, and six seconds (01:25:06).
The event, which took place at the IJG Trails in Kleine Kuppe, Windhoek, attracted a total of 120 cyclists.
In the elite men’s race, Miller led the pack from start to finish, leaving his competitors trailing behind. Kevin Lowe claimed the second position with a time of 01:26:36, while Martin Freyer secured the third spot, clocking 01:28:15.
In the elite women’s category, Jean-Marie Mostert emerged victorious with a stellar performance, completing the race in an impressive time of 01:02:05. She was followed by Mimi Hough in second place (01:09:53) and Ulrike Steidler in third place (01:16:38).
Expressing his delight after the race, Miller expressed his satisfaction with his performance and looked forward to upcoming competitions, including the Nedbank Windhoek Pedal Power Series and the Nedbank UCI XC 1. He also expressed hope for the inclusion of mountain biking in the 2024 Paris Olympics, a dream that many enthusiasts share.
Event organizer Michael Hennes, treasurer of Rock and Rut Mountain Bike Club, expressed his satisfaction with the event’s turnout and the enthusiasm of both seasoned cyclists and newcomers. He praised the track’s design and the overall success of the event.
