Swakopmund Legacy Hotels & Resorts has appointed René Garny as the general manager of its iconic Swakopmund Hotel and Entertainment Centre.
Garny has more than two decades of hospitality experience, and has worked with Legacy Hotels & Resorts at Swakopmund Hotel and Entertainment Centre for the past 14 years.
The property is a well-established gateway to Namibia’s Skeleton Coast and has been an iconic place to stay, dine and play since 1994. It is built around the historic 1901 station building.
It also brings all the old-world charm amalgamated with modern, new-world amenities, communication specialist Usi// Hoebeb said in a media statement.
“René is a well-respected manager who has always led his team by example – which is what makes him a great GM. We are incredibly privileged to have him head up one of the most iconic hotels in Namibia,” says Robert Hodson, COO of Legacy Hotels & Resorts.
Garny is born and raised in Namibia. He holds a two-year hotel management diploma from Switzerland, followed by a management development program at a four-star resort in the United States of America.
His return to Namibia to pursue his career and his recent promotion to GM is a testament to his
commitment and dedication to both his staff and guests alike, according to Hodson.
