The much anticipated ‘’We Race Together’’ MTC initiative is heating up, as two prominent political personalities McHenry Venaani, leader of the Popular Democratic Movement and Panduleni Iitula, leader of Independence Patriots for Change are set to battle it out on the athletics track against Namibia’s finest runners.
Joining the initiative, Venaani said it’s a worthy course to come together as Namibian personalities and to unite for a noble initiative, adding that it will drive the country towards nation building.
“As a society we can all come together and engage in a very noble course. My boots are ready to take on anyone come what may, ” Venaani said.
On his party IPC’s Iitula said ‘’it is wonderful when people embrace humanity and humility to ensure that we are all together and nothing can unite us more than sports. We may differ as long as we do not contradict each other and the path we travel, is going to be common”.
Itula who is looking forward to the tracks said the event will unite the people as a nation, while encouraging young people in the villages, who were never exposed to such events, to also be given an opportunity through the decentralisation of the initiative to all regions.
John Ekongo, the communication corporate specialist at MTC, alluded that MTC believes in networking and collaborative smart partnerships within the Namibian society despite this being a charitable initiative.
He extended MTC’s gratitude to those cooperates that came on board to join them in their noble course.
Sports journalist Limba Mupetami, said she is ready for the tracks. “Let’s do this for charity”.
Collin Benjamin, a former professional footballer, said it is good to have coperates doing this for the Namibian people and he looks forward to participate to make a difference in someone’s life.
Toivo Nuugulu, better known by his stage name ‘Leathemein’, commended MTC for always bringing people together.
“When you are on the track, it makes you feel like you are Beatrice Masilingi in your mind, he stated”.
He said the event can also be used as a networking platform.
The Executive chairman of CSS Tactical Solutions Namibia, Amos Shiyuka said he is delighted to come on board joining MTC in its noble course under the theme ‘’We Race Together’’.
“We faced by so many issues, but the glue that brings Namibians together continues to make us a nation and calls on other cooperates to come on board.’’
Shiyuka’s CSS Tactical Solutions is the latest company to make a pledge of N$30 000 to come on board. They follow the likes of other cooperates such as Namibmills, Shoprite, Nampower, BIPA, Bonlife, CRAN and many more.
The event is slated for the 23rd of April 2022 at the Independence Stadium, where participants will battle it out in a 4×100 meter relays aiming to outrun each other and coming face to face with Namibia’s elite sensational sprint runners, Christine Mboma, Beatrice Masilingi and Frank Fredricks.
