THE police in Ongwediva are investigating a rape incident in which a 15-year-old boy is accused of raping a 14-year-old girl who attended the same confirmation classes with him.
According to Oshana Nampol Spokesperson, Warrant Frieda Shikole, the incident happened on Wednesday around 22h00 at Oondjo dha Naango village in Omaalala.
“The suspect and victim both used to attend confirmation classes together. Before they went home, the suspect told the victim to go get the copy of the lesson at his house later. The victim went up to the suspect’s house at night, told her that he would escort her and on the way in the field he undressed the victim and forcefully had sexual intercourse with her,” Shikole explains.
According to her, the victim has Down Syndrome.
The suspect has since been arrested and investigations continue.
In a separate incident, 40-year-old Simon Nakale instantly died yesterday when the car he was driving overturned after he lost control of it. The accident happened between Okatyali and Omuntele gravel road at Ongenga village, according to Shikole. Nakale was traveling from Okatjali location towards Ongenga village.
“There were four passengers in the car with the deceased who I visited at the hospital and their conditions are stable. They are all discharged from the hospital,” Shikole says. The deceased next of kin have been informed.
