The Chamber of Mines of Namibia has confirmed its office bearers serving on the executive committee for the 2026–2027 term following the organisation’s 47th annual general meeting held on 21 May 2026.
The Chamber said the current executive leadership will remain in office for another term in line with the organisation’s constitution. No new elections were held during the AGM.
The leadership team will serve until the next AGM in 2027.
The office bearers for the new term are president George Botshiwe, managing director of QKR Navachab Gold Mine, first vice president John Roos, country manager of B2Gold Namibia, and second vice president Irvinne Simataa, executive vice president of Swakop Uranium.
Fabian Shaanika will serve on the executive committee in his role as chief executive officer of the Chamber of Mines of Namibia.
The Chamber welcomed Shaanika to the executive leadership following his recent appointment as chief executive officer.
According to the Chamber, Shaanika brings nearly 20 years of experience in the mining, natural resources and financial sectors.
His experience includes mining operations, investment banking, project development and strategic leadership.
He previously held senior positions at Kelp Blue, Rand Merchant Bank Namibia, Standard Bank Namibia, Namdeb, Skorpion Zinc and Debmarine Namibia.
The Chamber thanked the executive committee for its leadership and contribution to the mining sector during 2025.
It said it looks forward to continued engagement and progress in the industry during the new term.
The Chamber of Mines of Namibia represents mining companies operating in the country and plays a role in industry coordination and policy engagement.
