The Namibia Financial Institutions Supervisory Authority (Namfisa) has announced several appointments aimed at strengthening its strategy, technology and financial innovation functions.
The authority confirmed that Diana Katjiuongua joined Namfisa on 1 April as head of strategy and projects.
Katjiuongua brings 19 years of experience in the public and private sectors, with a background in strategy and project management, business development and civil engineering.
Before joining Namfisa, she served as manager of business strategy at the Business and Intellectual Property Authority (Bipa). She also worked as a project manager at Burmeister & Partners Consulting Engineers and Project Managers.
She began her career in 2007 at the City of Windhoek in the bulk water and wastewater division.
Katjiuongua holds a Master of Business Administration, a Bachelor of Technology in Civil Engineering and a National Diploma in Engineering from the Namibia University of Science and Technology.
She is also certified as a project management professional, strategy management professional and public-private partnership professional.
Namfisa said she will support the authority’s strategic direction and national development priorities while driving organisational performance.
The authority also appointed Matheus Iiyambula as FinTech specialist in the research, policy and statistics division, effective 1 March.
Iiyambula previously worked as a data analyst in Namfisa’s ICT division, where he focused on automating reports and developing Power BI dashboards to support data-driven decision-making.
He also served as a financial analyst in the capital markets and pension funds divisions and started his regulatory career in the market conduct division overseeing micro-lenders.
Before joining Namfisa in 2019, Iiyambula worked in the governor’s office at the Bank of Namibia, supporting risk management and compliance functions.
He holds a postgraduate qualification in data science and business analytics from the University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor of Science Honours degree in accounting from the University of Namibia.
He has also completed certifications in digital transformation, FinTech law and policy, as well as international regulatory programmes from Harvard Law School and Duke University.
Namfisa said his experience in financial analysis, risk-based supervision, data science and regulatory oversight will help support innovation in the non-bank financial sector.
Josef Kasera also joined the authority on 1 March as manager of business systems and services.
Kasera has more than 10 years of experience in ICT, enterprise systems management and digital innovation.
He holds a Master of Information Technology in ICT Management from the University of Pretoria and a Bachelor of Science honours degree in computer science from the University of Namibia.
He is certified in COBIT 2019, ITIL 4 and business process management and has completed specialised training in PRINCE2 project management.
Namfisa said Kasera will focus on strengthening enterprise systems, driving digital transformation and improving service delivery as part of the authority’s mandate to regulate and supervise Namibia’s non-bank financial institutions sector.
