The Brave Warriors and Brave Gladiators will now take to the field with a renewed sense of identity following the unveiling of brand-new kits for both national teams.
The kits were sourced from local manufacturer 90 Minutes and unveiled at the Namibia Football Association’s (NFA) headquarters in Windhoek on Wednesday.
The sponsorship, valued at around N$495 000, was mobilised by Tim Ekandjo, Isack Hamata, John Doeseb, and Amos Shiyuka.
It includes full playing kits, training gear, stepping-out outfits, and sneakers for all players and technical staff.
Ekandjo said the initiative was inspired by a request from the late NFA secretary general Charles Siyauya, who had flagged a shortage of kits for the national teams.
“Charles wrote to me a couple of months ago about the kit shortage and mentioned that the teams were sharing gear. I thought it was a joke. This inspired us to make sure our national teams are properly kitted out—not only on the field, but also off it,” he said.
He added that with World Cup qualifiers on the horizon, a fresh and unified look will give the teams added confidence as they represent Namibia on the international stage.
The deputy minister of education, innovation, youth, sport, arts, and culture, Dino Ballotti, welcomed the initiative and called on more Namibians to support local sports development.
“What Ekandjo and his colleagues have done is what patriotic Namibians should do. We must support our local manufacturers. If all sports codes buy their kits locally, we can grow our economy and create more jobs,” Ballotti said.
Ballotti praised the quality of kits produced by 90 Minutes, describing them as “top-tier”, and encouraged teams across all codes to wear locally made gear.
The sponsorship marks a positive step towards strengthening the image of Namibia’s national teams while supporting homegrown talent and industry.
