Namibian professional boxer Charles Shinima is set to face South Africa’s Brandon Thysse for the World Boxing Council (WBC) Silver Welterweight title this Saturday at Emperor’s Palace in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The event will also feature other fights.
Shinima, previously associated with MTC Nestor Tobias and Sun Shine Boxing and Fitness Academy, is now trained and promoted by Emmanuel Moses of the African Connection Boxing Club.
He has a professional record of 19 fights, with 18 wins and only one loss, boasting a 66.67% knockout rate since starting his career in 2017.
His opponent, Thysse, has 22 professional fights, with 17 wins, four losses, and one draw. He holds a 76.47% knockout rate and began his career in 2015.
Thysse is a former International Boxing Organisation (IBO) and World Boxing Association Pan African champion.
Shinima expressed confidence in his chances of winning, stating that his odds are higher than his opponent’s.
Thysse, however, emphasized that the fight will come down to determination.
“I am ready, we’ve been working on many things. At the end of the day, it will come down to who wants it more,” he told *Sowetan Live*.
The bout promises to be a competitive clash, with both fighters aiming to claim the WBC Silver Welterweight title and solidify their standing in the division.
