African Stars face tough weekend without a coach

Reigning Debmarine Premier League champions African Stars will need to be at their best this weekend as they face two tough away matches in Oshakati—without their coach.

Stars will take on Eeshoke Chula Chula Football Club on Saturday at 17h00 at the Oshakati Independence Stadium.

Their opponents are also desperate for points to improve their position in the log standings.

On Sunday, they will return to the same venue to face newly promoted and in-form King Kauluma Palace at 16h00.

Their challenge is further complicated by the sudden resignation of head coach Fillemon Ronny Kanalelo, who stepped down with immediate effect on Wednesday.

Team chairman Salomo Hei confirmed that the club is actively searching for a new coach and urged Stars fans not to panic.

African Stars are currently third on the log with 15 points from eight games, having won four matches, drawn three, and lost one.

They trail log leaders Khomas Nampol, who have 18 points from nine matches, and second-placed Young African from Gobabis, who also have 18 points but from eight games.

Meanwhile, coastal teams Blue Waters and Blue Boys find themselves in the relegation zone, occupying positions 14 and 15, respectively.

Both teams have identical records after nine games—one win, four draws, and four losses—leaving them with nine points and a goal difference of minus five.

This weekend, both teams will play at home at Kuisebmund Stadium.

Blue Waters will face Unam FC on Saturday, while Blue Boys take on Bucks Buccaneers at the same venue.

They will be aiming for crucial wins to move away from the relegation zone early in the season.

Newly promoted Cuca Tops Football Club from Rundu has struggled in the top flight, managing only six points from eight games.

They have won just one match, drawn three, and lost four, placing them at the bottom of the log standings.

The club is hoping to use home-ground advantage this weekend to pick up maximum points.

Cuca Tops will face FC Ongos on Saturday at Rundu Sports Stadium at 14h00 before taking on Tigers at the same venue on Sunday at 16h00.
