The Namibia Sports Commission has recently hosted its inaugural workshop for federation presidents and secretary generals to equip them with the necessary tools to drive positive change and growth in their respective federations.

Over 90 participants from various affiliate federations attended the event.

The commission’s chief administrator, Fredy Mwiya said this showcased a strong dedication to enhancing governance and development within the Namibian sports sector.

“The event focused on several key areas, including governance within the sporting industry, operational structures of the Namibian sports industry, and the Namibia Sports Act 12 of 2003,” said Mwiya.

He added that the sessions also included topics on communication, branding, sponsorships, sports development, compliance, and stakeholder relations.

‘’These topics were carefully selected to equip leaders with the knowledge and tools necessary to drive positive change and growth in their respective Federations,’’ he said.

According to Mwiya, the initiative marks the beginning of a biannual workshop series designed to promote good governance, sports development, and compliance.

By holding these sessions twice a year, Mwiya said the commission aims to establish clear benchmarks and align efforts to elevate Namibian sports.

“We aim to foster a collaborative environment where leaders can learn, collaborate, and tackle challenges together. Our ongoing efforts reflect our commitment to advancing Namibian sports,” said Mwiya.

He explained that with a focus on supporting sports growth and success in Namibia, the commission’s investment in leadership development is set to have a lasting impact on the country’s sporting landscape.
