No objections to Windhoek District Hospital

The City of Windhoek (CoW) has not received objections regarding the sale of the land designated for the Windhoek District Hospital.

Harold Akwenye, the spokesperson, confirmed this on Tuesday and added the land measuring 151 hectares on Farm 508 Havana had been sold to the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MoHSS) for N$18.9 million by way of a private treaty.

“We remain committed to addressing any concerns from the community transparently and ensuring that this development benefits the public,” he said.

A notice for the land sale for the hospital was made public last month.

Although the CoW decided to sell the land to the MoHSS in 2017, the delay in moving forward was reportedly due to a lack of funds.

The MoHSS indicated that modalities and approvals are already in place to handle the construction process.

Ben Nangombe, the executive director of the MoHSS, last month told the Windhoek Observer that there is a technical committee comprising officials from the Ministry of Health and Social Services, the Ministry of Works and Transport, the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Land Reform, the Ministry of Finance and Public Enterprises, the National Planning Commission, and the City of Windhoek.
