The Revolutionary Union has signed a two-year substantive wage agreement with B&E International Namibia Pty Ltd.
In a statement, Julius Natangwe, the proletariat central secretary of RU, said that the agreement would benefit all B&E employees included in the exclusive bargaining unit.
“The agreement, effective from 1 September, encompasses a favourable wage increase to ensure employees sustain and enhance their standard of living in Namibia,” said Natangwe.
He added that the agreement included a salary increase along with an evaluation and adjustment of various existing employee allowances, such as the production bonus scheme.
“As part of the safety measures for the busy festive season, the company will provide a January incentive to facilitate employees in sending their children to school smoothly. Employee safety continues to be our highest priority.”
Natangwe extended RU’s appreciation to the management of B&E International Namibia and all employees for their patience, understanding, and resilience during the negotiation process.
Shaltoe Watkins, director of B&E International Namibia Pty Ltd, expressed gratitude to the RU and the employees’ representative committee for their dedication to negotiating in good faith.
Watkins added that the agreement would support the maintenance of a strong relationship, prioritising employee well-being while ensuring the company’s sustainability and profitability.
“We wish to reaffirm our commitment to fulfilling our corporate social responsibilities in and around Oranjemund,” said Watkins.
