The countdown began for the thrilling third edition of the Namibia Youth Games when the Namibia Sports Commission (NSC) released the fixtures.
The draw for the fixtures took place in Windhoek on Wednesday.
The games, set to ignite the sporting scene from September 11 to 15, will take place in the towns of Oshakati, Ondangwa, and Ongwediva in the Oshana Region.
Teams from all 14 regions will showcase their talent across football, volleyball, and netball.
Male and female teams from all 14 regions will participate in the games.
All regions will send netball and football teams.
For basketball, the Omaheke and Kunene regions will not be sending teams.
Freddy Mwiya, Chief Administrator at the NSC, revealed that these games are more than just a local showdown.
He said they serve as a crucial selection platform for the national U20 team, which will go on to represent the country at the African Union Sports Council Region 5 Games that Namibia will host in June 2025.
“We are happy that all of the regions have made their team selections, and we are happy to have this event next week.” We are expecting 2100 athletes and 600 officials. It is going to be a huge event,” he said.
